Universal Music & Island Records Launch “Spinnup” For Direct Access To Unsigned Talent

Universal Music Group has released news about their latest venture, Spinnup, a digital aggregation platform, which will be partnered with Island Records. The platform’s aim is to distribute tracks globally via X5 on major platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Deezer, Rhapsody and WiMP. It is supposed to have a network of scouts with direct access to Universal Music’s A&R teams.

Island Record’s own, Glenn Cooper, director of digital stated “Digital distribution is a key stepping stone in the career of any unsigned artist and Spinnup provides the perfect ecosystem to help them get their music to market. Island Records has consistently broken ground in both the digital and A&R space; Spinnup sits alongside our existing crowdfunding platform and both deliver unique, innovative opportunities to discover and nurture new acts”.
