After what feels like eons, the Neptunes hitmaker finally blessed us with his beauty secrets so that we may one day have his ageless aesthetic. The Grammy winner gave a step-by-step breakdown of his everyday morning skincare regimen in an 8-minute video for Vogue and even he plugged in a few items from his own cosmetics brand as well as an important tip he received from the legendary Naomi Campbell.
In the clip, Pharrell shares all the products that go into his spotless complexion, including several items from his upcoming collaborative skincare brand, Humanrace, with longtime dermatologist Elena Jones.
“I started taking care of my skin a little over 20 years ago,” the 47-year-old admits in the video, before starting off with a three-step system that involves his Humanrace Rice Powder Cleanser (that “comes to life in your hands”) and Lotus Enzyme Exfoliant (which, courtesy of Campbell, he learned to apply “upward, not downward — gravity!”) and finishes with ISDIN’s Isdinceutics Flavo-C Ultraglican serum.
“Your face is only as good as the energy that comes from behind it,” Pharrell advises as he rinses, much to the amusement of his wife, Helen Lasichanh, who could be heard laughing out of the frame.
Another skincare tip Pharrell swears by: using a face cloth to exfoliate.
“It’s really, mostly just maintenance. … The routine is number one. I don’t care what you’re doing, your genes, genetics, whatever it is — it doesn’t matter,” he explains. “You have got to cleanse your face … and use a face cloth! That cloth is going to help you exfoliate.”
Pharrell wraps up the remaining half of his routine with a touch of his Humidifying Cream, a layer of ISDIN’s Eryfotona Ageless sunscreen and a swab of Chanel Rouge Coco lip balm — and that’s it, he’s ready for the day.
