DFM:How’s everything going Chinx?
CHINX:Everything is going good. Everything is on the up and up. Money is being made and priorities taken care of.
DFM:This year you have been selected to perform at this year’s summer jam festival stage, how do you feel about that?
CHINX:I feel very blessed and honored, but this is just the ground floor I’m still nowhere near where I want to be yet. I’m blessed to be a candidate and add on to the tradition & NY radio.
DFM:Growing up which artist(s) influenced you the most?
CHINX:Definitely Nas’s “Illmatic” and “It Was Written”, N.W.A. and Wu-Tang Clan.
DFM:How long have you been making music with French Montana?
CHINX:And when did it start? For years. I met French through Max B, my bro Stack Bundles R.I.P was in a group with Max B a few years back and I met French at Max B’s home in Yonkers.
DFM:Was it an easy transition from your Riot Squad days with Stack Bundles to now with Coke Boys and French Montana?
CHINX:It is still Riot Squad and now Coke Boys; it’s an extended family.
DFM:If Stack Bundles was still making music today where do you think we would be sitting right now within the industry?
CHINX:Stack Bundles was like that bridge between people saying that NYC wasn’t the same anymore. He would have been the savior for New York hip-hop. Coke Boys have held it up but Stacks would have been #1 for the sound and direction of everything.
DFM:What do you think you bring differently the music industry?
CHINX:I bring myself. I have so many different styles. No one has seen me before. I’m just me.
DFM:What do you think your listeners are getting out of your music?
CHINX:My fans get a sense of hope from my music. Listening to what I talk about and where I come from relates to 90% of my fan base.
DFM:What is one misconception you think people might have about you?
CHINX:People think I’m signed to a major label. I’m as indie as they come. All my money that comes through is mine.
DFM:What would be your dream collaboration with any artist or producer? And Why?
CHINX:Adele because she makes great soul music and her sound would be a great mix with the Coke Boys sound.
DFM:Has being around French, Diddy and Rick Ross helped you in any way to become a better artist?
CHINX:French Montana is my brother and we came up together. Diddy and Ross are our mentors and they treat us like young bosses and have taught us a lot about the business.
DFM:What advice would you have for inspiring artist that may have gone or are going through some of the same adversity you’ve dealt with in the past?
CHINX:Stay true to yourself. Try not to compromise and to just be yourself.
DFM:You are one of the young emerging New York artist, what other up and coming artist from New York do you think deserves some shine?
CHINX:Bynoe from Riot Squad he’s been with me from the beginning.
DFM:What is Next for Chinx?
CHINX:I’m dropping my mixtape Cocaine Riot 4 “Woulda Been Here Sooner” on May 15th and the lead singles I’ll be pushing are “Couple Niggas” and “Let’s Get It” feat. Young Thug.
