The estate of Pop Smoke has shared a posthumous track, the first new music from the Brooklyn rapper following his February death. Listen to “Make it Rain” below.
There’s a posthumous Pop Smoke LP that was announced in May, but the release has been delayed from tonight (June 12) to July 3. According to Steven Victor, who worked closely with the rapper as head of the Victor Victor label imprint, the decision to postpone the project out of respect for the current protests against police brutality. Victor has also launched a new nonprofit, the Victor Victor Foundation, which will work to support Black youth through voter registration efforts and aid programs focused on mentorship and emotional support.
Pop Smoke’s final release before his death was his February mixtape Meet the Woo Vol. 2.
