Back in 2013 on an app called Soundcloud, Jahseh Onfroy published his first song “News/Flock”. His first official mixtape was released in March 2014, simply titled “XXX,” this then spawned multiple releases in the following years and Jahseh’s popularity grew.

Now people know him as XXXTENTACION, his debut album from 2017 had reached the number 2 slot on Billboard’s top 200.

“Look At Me: XXXTENTACION” is titled after Jahseh’s first mainstream hit “Look At Me” which was released in 2017.

Directed by Sabaah Folayan, “Whose Streets?” (2017) and “Betty” (2021), the documentary will focus on unseen footage and interviews that depict the rapper’s life before his death at age 20.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Look At Me: XXXTENTACION” explores how Florida teenager Jahseh Onfroy became SoundCloud rapper XXXTENTACION, one of the most streamed artists on the planet. Through frank commentary from family, friends and romantic partners as well as unseen archival footage, director Sabaah Folayan offers a sensitive portrayal of an artist whose acts of violence, raw musical talent and open struggles with mental health left an indelible mark on his generation before his death at the age of 20.

The Hulu documentary will be executively produced by Rob Stone, Cleopatra Bernard, and Solomon Sobande. Cleopatra, Onfroy’s mother, will be starring in the interviews as well as other friends and members of family.

Noticeably, Juice WRLD or Jarad Anthony Higgins will also feature in the documentary with clips before his death in December 2018.

“Look At Me: XXXTENTACION” will look at the artist’s mental health struggles and the devotion of his fanbase. The documentary is set to be over an hour long and will premiere on May 26, 2022.
